Post-doc position at HP Labs

Job Description

The Advanced Database Research Lab within HP Labs is looking for talented individuals to participate in world class research projects. We are conducting research in the areas of large scale database and information management, data warehouse, business intelligence, and parallel and data-intensive analytic computing. We are collaborating with HP’s product divisions and HP’s own effort in building one of the world’s largest Enterprise Data Warehouses to solve real-world problems. Candidates should have a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or related technical disciplines; they should have strong system development skills, experience in software development languages and tools, and be very familiar with computer algorithms, data structures, and database technologies.

Qualifications

Education:
Ph.D. in Computer Science or related technical discipline (e.g. information technology, computer engineering, applied mathematics)

Experience, knowledge and skill:
1. Experience in software system research and development; ability to conduct independent research and to participate in research teams.
2. Experience with system development, and experience in developing technologies into a product is a plus.
3. Experience and knowledge in one of the following areas: large scale database and information management, data warehousing, business intelligence, data mining, parallel and data-intensive analytics computing.
4. Fluent with software development languages and tools; programming languages such as Java, C/C++; scripting languages such as Perl, UNIX shell, python; tools such as Eclipse and CVS; familiar with database technologies (e.g., MySQL, Oracle, MS SQL).
5. In-depth knowledge of computer algorithms and data structures.
6. High level of commitment, self-motivated, and results-driven.
7. Experience with Data warehouse workload management is a big plus.

呵呵，我发现自己对惠普越来越仰慕了！~~ ^_^

以前看 Paper, 很多时候都会重点参考到他们 lab 的 paper。语义的 jena 工具也是他们搞得，例如在流程智能， qos 这一块也很牛，貌似在中国的 lab 也有做这个business process intelligence 方向的。那位思考要改革学界规则的牛牛也是 hp lab 的。可惜近几年看来是无缘见到这位牛了。

貌似前一段时间有收购 BEA 的传闻，不知道后事如何？近日坊间有传言 IBM 要疯狂砍人 10 万余！呜呼~~ 江湖啊，谁能笑傲江湖~~
