今天看了这篇paper,在此记下自己的一些理解，和一些不理解点，如有不对的请及时指出，能与你讨论，我将非常高兴。500)this.width=500'> 1、AI中的理论分为：mechanism theories 、content theories.(不知道如何译)，ontologies 属于后者。 2.ontology as vocabulary的理解：（1）表面上看，本体是一些领域用于表达的词汇，但更准确的说，不是表面上看到了这些词汇，而是这些词汇所表达的概念。（2）the term ontology有时被看作是用词汇表示的一些领域的知识体。for example CYC（不知道CYC是什么）常用一些领域的知识表示作为它的本体。in other words,the representation vocabulary 提供描述一些领域的事实的terms,而the body of knowledge using that vocabulary 是关于那些领域事实（fact）的a collection.它们之间的区别is not clear.它们的区别是前者强调表达一些领域specific facts 的 a set of terms.后者强调的a set of facts 的共享。最后是关于本体的习惯用法，有些人用单数来表示即an ontology 有些用复数即ontologies，前者与哲学上的更一致。 2.ontology as content theory的理解：再好的mechanisms没有一个好的content theory是不行的。至于什么是content的本质，AI researchers 有不同的表述。ontologies是content theories.因为它的作用是识别对象的不同分类和存在的关系。当然content theories 需要一种表示语言，predicate calculus-like formalisms,augmented with type-of relations常用来描述ontologies. 3.why are ontologies important?的理解：本体的分析可以简明知识的结构；本体有利于知识共享。
